A Nice November
A quick recap of the eleventh month of the year...
See you next year, November!
What did I get up to last month?
Writing
In late October and early November, I worked on my submission for The Midnight Vault II, a storytelling event here on Substack. You can read “Waiting for the End” now! I had fun with this one… not least because it was part of something big.
I also wrote and published Advent of Luck, an interactive novelette that you can read here on Substack! It’s a holiday tale where you get to decide what happens next.
Advent of Luck
Welcome to Advent of Luck, an interactive novelette where you’ll get to decide what happens next!
I continued with The Diurnal Drabble Dare, managing to write at least one 100-word story every day. Sometimes I wrote more than that, resulting in 30 drabbles written in November 2025.
And then there are my fiction submissions to various magazines and anthologies. Here are the stats for November:
submissions: 15
rejections: 14
withdrawals: 0
under consideration: 3
acceptances: 1
I had a creepy little drabble published on November 11. Read “Thirteen Rats in a Bag” over on Rat Bag Lit… and try not to think about it the next time you receive a gift!
What’s Up Next?
I’m not sure where I’m going as far as writing in December. I might just take it easy and concentrate on finishing up The Diurnal Drabble Dare.
Kobo Plus readers: Who loves box sets? Here’s a magical selection of stories collected just for fans of fantasy… free to read with your Kobo Plus subscription! Get reading now; this offer is good for December 2025 only!
Watch for announcements about when my short fiction will be published in various magazines and anthologies. As soon as I have links, I’ll share them!
My forays into micro fiction will continue. Keep up to date on those by following my Notes.
How was November for you? Did you do everything you wanted to do? What are your plans for December?
