The Diurnal Drabble Dare: Week 15
Get your prompts for April 9 to April 15, 2025!
Welcome to Week 15 of The Diurnal Drabble Dare, April 9-15, 2025.
How was Week 14? How many drabbles did you write? I managed to write 15. Here’s one of them:
He'll Cry If He Wants To
Black streamers criss-crossed the room. The lights were dim, but not in an aesthetic sort of way; it was more like someone had simply forgotten to change the bulbs. Sombre music oozed from speakers, further dampening the mood of the handful of guests who were looking gloomier by the minute.
“Is this a birthday party? I thought this was a birthday party.”
“Maybe it’s a going-away party.”
“Did someone die?”
“Why would that be a reason for a party?”
Everyone was thoroughly baffled until the host stepped into the room.
“Thank you for coming,” he said, “to my pity party.”
Want to see how other writers are using the prompts?
Theresa has done it again, using all the prompts in a single story!
Here are your prompts for Week 15:
• LAWYER
• SIBLING
• QUARTET
• GRILLED CHEESE
• SCRABBLE
• LOOK UP
• SEED
You can use, not use, reorder, or interpret these prompts however you like.
Share links to your Week 15 drabbles in the comments or restack this post with your own drabble. (Note that any links submitted or shared after April 15 won’t be included in the e-mail version of next week’s post.)
Get writing those stories! I drabble dare you!
I have 4 siblings. One has died but 3 remain. If we had sung in church, we would have been a quartet plus one but nobody had a voice in our family. Sometimes we would have grilled cheese sandwiches because there was no meat in the house for seven.
Finally we have a lawyer in the family.
My niece has graduated law school.
No doctors yet but still hoping .
Our amusements were too few .
Always there were the group games like Monoply and Scrabble. I only remember one family vacation and it was that time if the month for me so the only thing I could do at the beach was look up at the birds.
Now I plant my seeds in my garden and I am glad to be alone in there.
Most of this is a true story . No characters spoke to me this week.
Thank you, Nissa.
